Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 31 July 2025
Welcome to Panning AI ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information in relation to our browser extension (the "Service").
1. What Information We Collect
We have designed our Service to function without collecting personally identifiable information like your name, email address, or IP address. The information we do collect is for the sole purpose of providing and improving the Service.
Usage and Analytics Data (Collected Automatically)
When you use the Panning AI extension to analyze a product, we automatically collect the following information:
- Anonymous User ID: We assign a randomly generated, anonymous identifier (a "UUID") to your instance of the extension. This ID is not linked to your identity or any personal accounts. It helps us understand usage patterns and distinguish between different sessions without identifying you.
- Product and Analysis Data: We collect information about the product you are analyzing, including its title, ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number), and the resulting AI-generated summary, score, and bullet points.
- Interaction Metrics: We record technical data about the analysis, such as the time it took to process, how long the report was viewed, and whether the affiliate link in the report was clicked. This helps us optimize performance and understand feature usage.
- Technical Information: We may collect basic, non-identifying technical information about your browser (e.g., browser name and version) to diagnose and fix bugs.
Information You Provide Voluntarily
- Feedback: If you choose to provide feedback on a report (e.g., a star rating and a text comment), we collect this information along with your Anonymous User ID to improve the quality of our AI analysis.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain the Service: To perform the core function of analyzing product pages and delivering a report.
- To Improve and Develop the Service: We analyze usage trends and feedback to identify bugs, understand user needs, and enhance the accuracy and utility of our AI models.
- To Ensure Security and Performance: To monitor the health of our systems and protect the Service from misuse.
3. Lawful Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
Our legal basis for collecting and using the information described above depends on the specific context:
- Legitimate Interests: We process anonymous usage and analytics data based on our legitimate interest in operating, maintaining, and improving our Service. We have balanced this interest against your rights and freedoms and concluded that our processing is reasonable and does not override your privacy interests, as the data is pseudonymous.
- Consent: When you voluntarily submit feedback, you provide us with consent to process that information for the purpose of improving our Service.
4. Data Sharing and Sub-processors
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. To provide and improve our Service, we use third-party service providers ("sub-processors") who perform essential functions on our behalf. We only share the information necessary for them to perform these functions and have contractual agreements in place to ensure they protect this data.
Our sub-processors fall into the following categories:
- Cloud & Hosting Providers: These services provide the core infrastructure, security, and data storage for the Panning AI Service.
- Artificial Intelligence Providers: These services perform the core analysis of product data. When you request an analysis, relevant, non-personally identifiable product data (like review text) is sent to one of our AI provider's APIs to generate the report.
To maintain operational flexibility and continuously improve our service, we may test, add, or remove sub-processors from time to time. Our current list of key sub-processors includes, but is not limited to:
- Cloudflare, Inc.
- Google, LLC (for AI Processing)
- Anthropic, PBC (for AI Processing)
- OpenAI, L.L.C. (for AI Processing)
By using our Service, you consent to our use of these sub-processors to process your data. We remain the Data Controller and are responsible for the processing of your data in accordance with this policy.
5. Your Data Protection Rights
Under data protection laws, you have rights including:
- Right to Access: The right to ask for copies of your personal information.
- Right to Rectification: The right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate.
- Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): The right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Right to Restriction of Processing: The right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.
How to Exercise Your Rights
Because we do not know your real-world identity, you must provide your Anonymous User ID to us to make a data request. If you have the Panning AI extension installed, your ID will be displayed below.
To exercise your rights, please email your Anonymous User ID to info@panningai.co.uk with a clear description of your request (e.g., "Data Deletion Request"). We will process your request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
6. Data Security and Retention
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect. We retain the anonymous and pseudonymous data for a period of up to 24 months for trend analysis and service improvement, after which it may be permanently deleted or fully anonymized by aggregation.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
